Welcome John! Our newest Acupuncturist and Herbalist

We are very excited to welcome John Braide, our newest Acupuncturist and Herbalist at Dynamic Acupuncture. John was previously an acupuncturist and co-owner of The Vital Compass and he brings decades of experience with him. John is a skilled, gentle and intuitive acupuncturist and an incredible herbalist, specializing in chronic and complex conditions. John will be in the clinic starting on Tuesday, December 5th. John’s schedule is now available for booking and we look forward to you getting to work with him soon!

John has thrived in the healthcare field for more than 20 years, specializing in painful and chronic, complex disease, and delving deeply into the root causes of disease, whether it be skin issues, digestive upset, or insomnia. And prior to obtaining his license in acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, he worked as a health care journalist and massage therapist.

John received his full Oriental Medicine Diplomate from the NCCAOM and the Institute of Classics in East Asian Medicine (ICEAM). While this level of education is not required in the State of Oregon for licensure as an acupuncturist, it shows advanced skill in the safe and effective prescription of Chinese herbs.

While many patient cases are straight-forward, our bodies, minds, and spirits can be unpredictable, and we are each different from one another in the same way that we each have our own DNA. Even simple injuries may be the result of a longer-lasting underlying condition that needs to be addressed as well. And, truly, the only way to approach a complex, living being is with humility, openness, persistence, and the belief that the body can do a tremendous amount of healing on its own when given the chance.  John incorporates pulse-taking, abdominal diagnosis, medical qigong and other modalities to do this.

A graduate from the American College of Oriental Medicine (ACTCM, 2001), John is now a Licensed Acupuncturist (LAc) in Oregon, and is certified in Shiatsu, Thai massage, and Chinese Orthopedic Massage. He has full training from the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association and has worked extensively with people with HIV, addiction, and mental health issues.

John enjoys music and literature and balances his career in Chinese Medicine with his creative endeavors as a novelist and playwright. John lives in Portland, Oregon with his husband of 29 years.
