CONDITIONS TREATED

Chinese Medicine is a safe, effective therapy and a viable option for those looking for alternatives to pharmaceutics and standard treatment. In 2003, the World Health Organization and the National Institute for Health released a report based on clinical trials showing acupuncture to be an effective therapy for a wide variety of medical conditions. Below you will find a list of the most common categories of conditions that we work with, but it’s by no means a complete list.

If you don’t see your condition listed please call our office for a free phone consultation to see if Chinese Medicine would be a good option for you.

PAIN MANAGEMENT

Acupuncture shines as a treatment option for pain management. The effectiveness of acupuncture for acute and chronic pain has been documented by numerous research studies, and acupuncture is becoming a widely sought after treatment option for pain. Living with pain not only directly affects daily quality of life, but it also takes a toll on emotional wellbeing and energy. Many patients come to acupuncture frustrated with conventional treatment options and wanting to avoid the unpleasant side effect of medication.

Acupuncture provides pain relief by interrupting the pain pathways in the body, reducing inflammation, alleviating muscle spasms, releasing opioids, improving circulation, and shortening healing time. Acupuncture also enhances performance for competitive athletes.

Common conditions treated include— sports injuries, motor vehicle/ bike accidents, muscle spasms, sprains and strains, back/neck/shoulder/knee pain, arthritis, headaches, sciatica, carpal tunnel syndrome, and TMJ.

WOMEN'S HEALTH

Women’s health offers a window to deeply understanding the inner workings of the body. Women often report a feeling of empowerment when they reconnect and find balance in their rhythmic cycles. Every monthly cycle and each transition, from menstruation to pregnancy to menopause, gives women the opportunity to shed the old, start afresh, and transform.

The symptoms associated with the menstrual cycle and menopause illustrate hormonal and metabolic imbalances in the body, which can be addressed with Chinese Medicine and lifestyle recommendations. Chinese Medicine treats menstrual irregularities, PMS, menstrual cramps, hot flashes, migraines, morning sickness, back and hip pain during pregnancy, and helps prepare the body for birth.

MEN'S HEALTH

Acupuncture is becoming a growing option in supporting men’s reproductive health. Male factors are often an under-treated aspect of fertility treatment, yet men’s reproductive health is affected by environmental toxins, lifestyle and dietary choices, and stress. Acupuncture helps improve blood circulation in the reproductive organs, reduces stress, and helps regulate hormones. Acupuncture can help improve sperm health, increase libido, and treat erectile dysfunction.

STRESS & EMOTIONAL WELLBEING

We live in such a fast paced society that constantly demands our attention that stress is often an overlooked and an accepted state of being. The active lifestyle is not balanced with rest and relaxation, and this chronic low-grade stress can wreak havoc on our health and emotional wellbeing. Acupuncture shifts the body out of the sympathetic (flight and fight) nervous system and activates the parasympathetic (rest and restore) nervous system, providing stress relief and increasing the capacity to cope with the demands of life.

The emotions have always been incorporated in Chinese Medicine, and each acupuncture meridian has a corresponding emotion with which it’s associated. Acupuncture helps treat anxiety, depression, grief, sadness, and irritability. Read more here on acupuncture for anxiety.

IMMUNE SUPPORT

A healthy immune system makes us less sensitive to external causes of disease such as viruses and allergies. Acupuncture stimulates and strengthens the immune system to make the body more resilient when fighting off pathogens and reduces the severity of symptoms during a cold or allergy flare up. By restoring balance to the body, acupuncture also helps moderate symptoms in cases of autoimmune diseases. Conditions treated include— autoimmune diseases, allergies, the common cold and flu, bronchitis, sinusitis, and asthma.
